Gentlemen,

I am pleased to give an update on the thorny menu problem.  Mr. Jones and I have gotten about a 90-percent solution for Windows.  We plan to put it into Linux in the next day or two.

Right now there is one problem that we know of and a few unanswered questions.

        (1) The menu seems to stretch itself a random amount in the vertical direction on occasion.

        (2) We haven't looked into getting an OpenGL rendering context for menus.  At the moment the menu inherits its parent window's context.  But I don't think this will pose much of a problem.

        (3) It's a hack; I readily admit it.  Any improvement will be welcomed.

        (4) And of course, there is the question of Linux.
