I have implemented single-buffering (at least in emulation) on Windows; it seems already to have been implemented in Linux. If some interested party will step up I will send in the modified files for inclusion in CVS.
I have also written (well, modified) a sample program that uses Michael Barnsley's stochastic algorithm to draw a general (user-defined from a data file) fractal. It uses the single-buffering feature in "freeglut" and is, to the best of my knowledge, the only demo program that does. Again, it is available to interested parties.
