        Thank you for the work you have been doing.  If you could send me your fixes I would like to check them out.  I think I made several of the changes that you have adjusted.  I have a suite of GLUT demo programs that I ran in parallel using GLUT and "freeglut".  I worked with "freeglut" until the windows that the programs generated looked pretty much the same.  So if you have changed anything back, I need to know about it so that I can fix it in some different way.

OK, I now have subwindows working perfectly for me on win32 from Lisp,
after making more adjustments to FG subwindow positioning/sizing code.
Sorry for the piecemeal approach, if anyone likes I'll send entire
source files. But the fix is simply not to muck with subwindow geometry
over caption or frame sizes, since my subwindows do not have those.
