You're very good in supporting the software. I'm using Netdrive to map my SFTP as a drive. I'm facing the same problem as raiko, but in my case whenever the source folder is empty, or containing only .java files.
I don't think this is bug from NetDrive because I can copy the folders/files using explorer.

Thanks for the great software.

RealtimeSync - how do I see what batches it will run, change them, etc.?

File exclusion can be found on the lower part of FFS's main dialog. Are these errors caused by FFS in some way? IOW, is there a todo for FFS?

RealtimeSync - how do I see what batches it will run, change them, etc.?

Again, many many thanks for the quick reply.
I'm finding I'm getting an issue - that my backups while being created have a .tmp suffix and FFS chokes on those - then i'll have multiple instances that are locked for hours at a time because of the underlying error. i've tried to specify ignore error but it won't seem to "stick" - while at it, i'd love a feature to exclude files that contain certain names, or suffixes - do you anticipate that perhaps in the future?
again, many many thanks!

Keep previous versions of files

I need to know how big the "camps" are... if one turns out to be small...

Keep previous versions of files

For me the side advantage of 1.
(you know exactly where to find all available versions of a file via a file browser)
is one of the prime reasons to use FFS. I would hate to see that dropped.

If 1. is tied to I and 2. is tied to II, why not give the choice (option) which of the
two combination to use? It seems to serve the two "camps" of users.

Thanks so much.
does it go away forever?
enable my multiple realtimesync instances on boot

Yes and via shortcut into startup. Help file section "Run as Service" might be relevant for you.

part of what i'm doing with FFS is making tasks that run at certain times

If you setup a recurring sync, you probably don't need RTS anymore... Anyway it all depends on how current your backup needs to be.

as i read it won't pick up a change while it is coping a change - make sense?

Yes, but those changes will be caught upon detection of next change, so unless there is no "next change", this isn't a severe limitation.

how to do it other than multiple tasks spread a few minutes apart?

By default FFS employs folder-level locking so you don't need to include a spread manually. Just start the syncs you need at the time you need them.

RealtimeSync - how do I see what batches it will run, change them, etc.?

thank you for the quick reply. yeah, kinda obvious that i should have looked on the lower corner - where i can see the multiple realtimesync instances, and i can open them. the next question becomes, by hitting "exit" for that instance, does it go away forever? and for that matter, how can i enable my multiple realtimesync instances on boot - via a startup command? again, many thanks.
part of what i'm doing with FFS is making tasks that run at certain times, to catch the folders where changes may not be picked up by realtime sync as i read it won't pick up a change while it is coping a change - make sense?
i believe i can set up a delay for changes - ultimately, i'd like directory A to go from Drive A to Drive B, and then from Drive B to Drive C - so i'd like to cascade the mirroring - any suggestions on how to do it other than multiple tasks spread a few minutes apart?
thanks again!

Keep previous versions of files

Related problem: How should "Cleanup after x days" handle the job name; it might not exist or it might change over time when the user renames config => leave out from temp name?

Keep previous versions of files

Of the two limits, II is the most useful: There is an inverse correlation between the time passed since a file was deleted and the likelihood that one might need it again. A "limit versions" on the other hand is largely artificial and can only barely be justified by a weak correlation of version count and time passed.

In real-world terms: If you want to clean up your house and get rid of superfluous items, you don't set a numeric limit for each item type and throw away everything after x items (=limit versions). You also don't place a size limit and throw away everything that doesn't fit in x cubic meters (=size limit; yes one could argue that the size of the rooms is a natural size limit, but in practice if the stuff is useful, you'll see to get more space rather than throw away stuff). But you may decide to throw everything away which you haven't used for more than a year (= limit by days).

The naming conventions have the following advantages:
1. * easy to find a specific version of a file via a file browser

easy to delete all versions older than a certain date (either manually or via a new limit in FFS)

easy to do an "undo" by copying over deleted and overwritten files from last sync (can be useful in practice even if this does not cleanup the newly created files)

a single revisions directory can be used by multiple folder pairs and sync jobs since the job name is part of the temporary directory name.

So reevaluating the requirements and the feedback I have tendency to implement 2/II replacing the current 1/I handling of revisions.
