Frank Force

Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. -Confucius

The goal of the "Frank Engine" project is to create an engine/editor designed to build large open world games without over complicating things.

Everything necessary to create a fully featured game is included: physics (Box2D), rendering (DirectX), level editor, dynamic lighting, particle system, sound, music (Ogg Vorbis), gamepad input, GUI, and debug console. The code is fairly well documented and includes a simple starter project to build on.

Main Features

  • Dynamic lighting, soft shadows, emissive, specular, and normal maps
  • Integrated editor with advanced features like copy/paste and undo/redo
  • Integrated physics using Box2d
  • Custom font rendering using BMFont
  • Music using Ogg Vorbis
  • C++ with object oriented architecture
