4digits is a guess-the-number puzzle game. It's also called Bulls and Cows, and in China people simply call it Guess-the-Number. The game's objective is to guess a four-digit number in 8 times.

Today 4digits 1.1 has been released. New in this version:

* Fixed a bug that caused preference file and score file cannot be created for the first time and game cannot quit.
* No longer searches glade files and help files in different places.

4digits is now repackaged and distributed in Debian unstable branch. Thank you, Debian.

Today 4digits 1.0 has been released. New in this version:

* Fully compatible with Windows. Now you can play it under Windows besides *nix.
* Bigger font size for input box. This looks much better.
* Removed hint table column header. This results in a clearer GUI.
* A fresh new logo.

Today 4digits 0.9 has been released. New in this version:
GUI version:
* Program preferences are now persistent through sessions.
* Minor user interface tweaks.
* Much code cleanup.

Text version:
* Moved score file to ~/.4digits/.
* Program messages are now the same as in GUI version.
* Much code cleanup.

With the release of Ubuntu 7.10 on Oct 18, 4digits is now shipped with the most popular Linux distribution. Ubuntu user can now install 4digits directly from Ubuntu's software source. Thanks Ubuntu!

4digits 0.8 coming and project website reloaded

After months of 4digits 0.4 release, 4digits 0.8 is coming and will be released soon. This version features high score function, a hint table and many other improvements. To get a preview, you can grab the latest version from the SVN repository.

The project website once located at http://pan.cdut.cn/4digits is no longer available. I have moved all the contents of the website to Sourceforge server. The website address is now <http://fourdigits.sourceforge.net>. Thanks Sourceforge!

First SVN import committed

Today the first revision of the code for SVN is imported. You can checkout the code via:

Today, 4digits enters Debian unstable, finally. Its home at the repository is <http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/4/4digits/>. Debian unstable users can now install 4digits with apt.

From the day I filed the WNNP bug to the day the ITP bug(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=415838) is closed, it is just one month. Thanks to Cai Qian, and other debian guys.

4digits 0.4 Released.

4digits 0.4 is released today.

This is the first version shipped with a GUI. The GUI is written with PyGTK, this makes the game more easy to run under other operating systems. Just install PyGTK and python-glade, and the game can run. This is my third GUI program, so it is still simple.

The text C program is still included, and will be included in future versions, but is renamed to 4digits-text. 4digits now launches the GUI version.... read more
