No

I really hate the new allura ticket platform.
This is one of the reasons.

Why have wastage of space be the default layout? And if I hit maximize once, why doesn't it stay that way forever?

Could you provide instructions for how you got the screen to look that way? I tried playing with zoom settings and whatnot and I can't get it to crop the sides off like in your screenshot.

    Thanks,

I tried 2 different browsers and in both case, the stretchable space is the margin, on the left and the right, instead of the content itself. So increasing the width of the window does not help, as it should. This is the bug.

I think the reason I see something different is because I added "creator" to the list of fields to show. I can't even figure out how I did that now.

Well, I have the "creator" column on your ticket space as well, but I'm still not getting it cut off the way you are. In any case though, would having the "Maximize" setting stick (possibly as a cookie) be a good solution for you? I mainly as because a solution like that would be something we'd be able to do much sooner than a redesign that would allow variable width.

Yes, a sticky maximize would certainly make the problem less painful for me.

But really, I bet someone with a bit of CSS/html expertise can fix the layout bug - the hard part is finding out where the css/html code is being spit out.
You changed my bug report into a feature request.

Also 'maximize' makes other parts of the website disappear, so it's not exactly the same thing as fixing the central table so it is expanding while the margins do not expand.
Is the "fixed-width" nature of the current layout a feature that you really want to preserve? That makes it less friendly for smaller as well as larger screens, which I believe was the whole point of using HTML.

By turning my bug report into a feature request, you are effectively helping to preserve the fixed-width nature of the layout. Even if there is a workaround, which there is not yet, this bug won't be fixed unless it is reported in the right place. I was not sure if it was an allura bug or a sf.net bug.

If I could edit the subject of this ticket, I would change it to "Wastage of Horizontal Space - central table should use extra space, not margins. "
