Creating new tickets - bugs, feature requests, using Fx 23 in Vista x64, after creating orig. post,

1) there is no way to edit comment in original post of new tickets - either the text or adding / deleting attachments.

2) When creating 1st post, no way to add a 2nd, 3rd attachment - IN the 1st post. ONLY ONE ATTACHMENT can be uploaded in initial post for new ticket. Period.
No link or verbiage "add another image" shows.

  • Even after click "browse to image," & select it from my local drive, there's NO "attach / upload selected file" shown in the SF GUI - on ANY post (1st, 2nd...).

3) At no time, on 1st, 2nd... posts, after browsing to images to attach, then selecting a file, then "Open" in the Windows UI, does anything like "upload image / file" ever appear on the SF "create a post / add attachment" UI.

4) On 2nd, 3rd... comment of a ticket, to ADD MORE THAN ONE ATTACHMENT, must add 1st attachment, then Save (submit) the post, THEN EDIT the post, to add more attachments. Again, never see an "Upload Selected File."

On 2nd, 3rd comments, SF Create a Ticket GUI WON'T LET me add 2 - 3 attachments, one after another, w/o "Saving" (submitting) the post, THEN EDIT IT AGAIN.

This is only forum I've seen, that do allow attaching files, where must add ONE image, post the comment, then EDIT to attach another; then edit to attach one more & on & on. It isn't a file type / size issue - they're small jpegs.

I've whitelisted SF in AdBlock Plus, NoScript, Ghostery.

    Greetings,

For the initial ticket post, there's a separate permission setting to "UPDATE" tickets, which by default, is not allowed for non-developers since in most cases, the project does not want to grant a non-developer the ability to edit ticket metadata like the status on all tickets. That said, we have a ticket for the ability to have a "CREATOR" permission group which, once implemented, would allow projects to define their permissions to allow a ticket creator edit privileges on tickets they submit, but not others. I expect when that's available, that option would be more popular. But in the end, it will still be a per-project/per-tickets instance setting. The ticket I mentioned is here: [allura:tickets:#4842]

As for attaching multiple files at a time, the "Browse Files" interface actually allows multiple selection, so if you select multiple files in the same browse dialog, you'll be able to attach multiple files at once. That said though, this is definitely not clear, and as such, I've logged a ticket with our team to make this easier in the UI. See this ticket here: [allura:tickets:#6575]

    Thanks Chris,

ISSUE 1: Attaching multiple files. I missed the memo about "allows
    multiple selection" of attachments. :)

?? Meaning ?? ALL files to be uploaded must be in the same location /
folder? If yes, isn't it a bit unhandy - moving all files to attach
(that may be completely unrelated), ALL to one location, just so can
upload them on SF? I just tried exactly that - selecting 3 files from
ONE folder to upload & it worked.

It's better than nothing, but I don't see why SF forces users to move
all files to be attached to one location. Other, very small, zero
income forums / bug trackers have no problem adding an "attach another
file" button, after selected one, then hit "Upload." It should then
give option to attach another, from various locations. I've not seen
many / any forums do it SF's way, AFAIK.

ISSUE 2: (unrelated to bug, but if you could give brief answer).
When CREATING TICKET (just tried this) - put bogus data as test, upload
couple images - the "CANCEL" button does NOT cancel anything - either on
Edit or Preview page. Doesn't respond at all. Thus, only way to delete
/ cancel creating a ticket - BEFORE submitting it - is close the page,
    before hitting "Save?" (I guess).

    On the SF forums, like
    https://sourceforge.net/p/passwordsafe/discussion/, the Cancel button
works, if start a new topic, then decide not. Actually clears all
    entered data.

ISSUE 3: (I asked on forums - no replies). How do you upload OR embed
images or file (txt, pdf, etc.) on forum posts? Must you upload them to
a image / file host server, then.... just post the ref. URL?
I don't really see anything in the forum "Formatting Help" file / FAQ -
    that SPECIFICALLY gives steps.

I've seen a few embedded IMAGES in posts (not links) - assume they
uploaded to ImageShack or similar, then used only the
[img]http://URL_to_the_image.jpg[img] portion of the hosting server's link?

Not sure if small text, pdf files can be embedded, or just insert links
    to file on a server?

    Thanks.

Follow up to msg below, about CANCEL button not working on create ticket
page. I was wrong. Just closing the page, BEFORE ever hitting "SAVE"
does NOT prevent the ticket creation. That's a 1st.

      I tried it here: http://sourceforge.net/p/passwordsafe/feature-requests/712/
Never hit the Save button on that ticket - just closed the page, but it
still created the ticket. In this case, was testing attaching > 1 file,
but found the Cancel didn't work. AFAICT, there is NO way to cancel
      creating a ticket, once started.
      Thanks.
