No

Currently there are some categories where legacy Windows releases (Win 9x, Me) are mixed with the NT branch (2000, XP, etc.) and other categories are only listing one Windows release.

Further Windows Server 2008 and higher is not even available.

I would suggest the following categories to clean this up:

  • Legacy Windows (95, 98, 98SE, Me)
  • 32-bit Windows NT Desktop (NT4, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8)
  • 64-bit Windows NT Desktop (XP, Vista, 7, 8)
  • 32-bit Windows NT Server (NT4, 2000, 2003, 2008)
  • 64-bit Windows NT Server (2003, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012)

On the other hand creating one category for each Windows version would be best, since this would allow better fine tuning of the supported Windows versions.

  • Windows 95
  • Windows 98
  • Windows 98 SE
  • Windows Me
  • Windows NT 4.0
  • Windows NT 4.0 Server
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows 2000 Server
  • Windows XP
  • Windows XP x64 Edition
  • Windows XP IA64
  • Windows 2003
  • Windows 2003 x64 Edition
  • Windows 2003 IA64
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows Vista x64 Edition
  • Windows 2008
  • Windows 2008 x64 Edition
  • Windows 2008 IA64
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 7 x64 Edition
  • Windows 2008 R2
  • Windows 2008 R2 IA64
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8 x64 Edition
  • Windows 2012
  • Windows 2012 IA64

What do you think?

I agree that a clean-up is in order. I'm escalating this to our engineering team here: [allura:tickets:#5234]
