I am looking for a project that a team of 6 people can make great contributions to for 12 weeks.
All of us will be undergraduate students at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Depending on the project, I can form the team accordingly. For example, if the project needs some cool design, I can get a designer. If the project is made by Java, then I will find students who are good at Java.
Initially, I was thinking about contributions to open source project. I know there are tons of interesting open source projects you can contribute to INDIVIDUALLY.
However, after googling for hours, I came to doubt if there is any kind of open source contribution that a team of 6 people can make for 12 weeks.
Would you give me any suggestions? Should I think about different types of project?
BBCT is an app for managing a baseball card collection written in Java for desktop and Android platforms. We have almost 100 outstanding tickets ranging from documentation and design to adding new features and fixing bugs. We are currently a small team and would definitely enjoy working with your group. If you are interested, please join our mailing list and introduce yourself.
I think that team can be more effective than individuals and attempt more challenging tasks. Check our project freeplane. It is a knowledge management tool (desktop Java, Swing, OSGi) supporting people's creativity and communication and used by many students, writers, researchers and also project managers around the world. Let us think together what improvements you could work on.
