The primary skills list is at sourceforge.net/auth/pref/user-skills, but there's a second, independent list at "help wanted - profile" sourceforge.net/people/editprofile.php. It would be super helpful if there was a way to import the primary skills list into the help-wanted page, or check "same as my user-skills". The underlying problem is that entering a long list of skills is laborious and error-prone due to the clumsy interface on the user-skills page. The help wanted page is much easier to use, because it collapses the hierarchy into a single combo box, whereas the fancy user-skills design obliges the user to load a new page for each level of nesting. This is a very frustrating experience for several reasons: 1) Loading a new page is slow, 2) loading a new page causes loss of context, especially if the browser scrolls back to the top, which it does when the skills list gets long enough to fill a page, and 3) it's impossible to see the whole skills list at once, so the user has to blindly guess what topic or subtopic the desired skill is hiding in. I finally resorted to using the combo box on the help-wanted page as a kind of cheat sheet, since it appears to contain the same hierarchy (or are there differences? If so why?)

One other minor point: parallel processing and multithreading seem to be underrepresented in the list. The closest I could find was Topic :: System :: Hardware :: Symmetric Multi-processing.

While http://sourceforge.net/people/editprofile.php is admittedly more mature, it's part of the old "classic" SourceForge codebase, which we're actively working towards retiring.

We are planning on re-implementing the Help Wanted system on the newer Allura codebase, but, as you note, it is still a work-in-progress, so still has a way to go to "catch-up" to the old system (though the old system has its fair share of issues as well).

That said, your feedback on the new user-skills section is definitely appreciated, so I'm going to change the title of this feature request ticket so that this can be tracked as a list of potential improvements for that page.
