Paul,

Generally fonttools2 was release I made for my own needs during work with Dave on Font Bakery project. I was accidentally become a maintainer of my own fork only needed by one person in the world and that person wasn't me. fonttools on PyPI was a subtask of another task to make smooth install process for Font Bakery. And this becomes little bigger then I've expected. I found that there is several placeholders on PyPI for the same project and even most suitable (simple FontTools) is hidden behind 404 page. Another name for the same egg is a mess, the same time I can't be a person who are responsible for this project, etc. I decided a help a little in a way I think is valuable. I've opened ticket in PyPI support tracker and after several weeks got ownership. I put on hold 2.4 release because didn't expect that it will takes so much time.

May be my explanation looks too complicated, but hope will explain my motives.

Actually fonttools2 was a renamed version of FontTools. Yes.

About Just, nether me.

Paul, my apologies, I've checked my mails again and found your request. If it can excuse me I'm not involved into development and don't know your names and so on. Whole Source Forge ecosystem looks slightly dead for me, on that stage I thought that FontTools was completely abandoned. This maillist doesn't have any posts from ... 2008! http://sourceforge.net/p/fonttools/mailman/fonttools-discussion/. And I didn't plan to maintain fonttools2 for a long time. Though that was temporary. You are owner now, can kick me from the list. Old owner with id 'just' is still here, I think this is Just van Rossum.

BTW, why you decided to resurrect development on SF.net? UI is so 90x, half links are broken, everything is terrible slow. GitHub probably will attract more people and makes much easier communication for developers.

Hmm, so you essentially renamed fonttools2 to FontTools.

Unfortunately Just van Rossum (in BCC) didn't respond in any way to my
requests for access to FontTools-TTX.

Please add myself and Just to the FontTools project on PyPi.

Did you miss my two emails asking for access to fonttools2?
