I am building a TrueType font for Yiddish. I need to
define, for example, the patah character U+05B7, in
such a way that programs will combine it with base
characters properly. I have not found any way to
indicate this in FontForge, so any time I use a patah
in an editor, the patah sits next to (instead of in the
same horizontal position as) its base glyph.

I was able to build some precomposed ligatures that use
a patah, but that's not quite the same thing.

Thanks for any light you can shed on this subject.
