A new type for PostgreSQL called geoobj has just been released in pre-alpha version. It supports indexing using GIST index method.
A regression test will be soon established to certify accross platforms the new type and its functions.
This 3D geographic type will then be used by FMaps for its internal tables.
FMaps is now in CVS format...
Should be easier for developpers.
Check the tarball in the ftp section. For the moment I have just worked out the interface and the gtkwidget. No map gets drawn, but I think it is time to show something. The APIs for the projection system has to be worked out (in a few days). However I need some comments, some icons and some help: subscribe to the mailing list. Quick Manual: create a PostgreSQL database called fmaps, run the application, go in settings, then connect then new table then new map.
