The first is the topic. It explains a lot about landing.
Second is its description of a simulator behavior I'd very much like to
use in flightgear.
I've frequently used the feature of flightgear that allows you to
place the aircraft in the air, with a given heading and speed. This
lets me try landings repeatedly. It's great for retrying a botched
landing or a missed approach without totally going around.
Problem 1 is that when you reach the point in the air, the engine is
not running. We can deal with that, its just an engine out scenario.
We've all tried those haven't we? At any rate it would be nice to have
the engine up and running at the start.
Problem 2 is not being able to store and retrieve to start again at the
same point in a separate session.
Are these features already a part of flightgear? If so how do they
