I got the latest version of LAME (3.98.4) from rarewares.org - release date 2010-03-23 (Bundle compiled with Intel Compiler 11.1.054)...

Using FlacSquisher 0.56, it does not seem to work; turning off the hiding of the command prompt windows, they exit too quickly to see the full error, but I think the one I was receiving had to do with the Genre I had set in the FLAC files not being a valid ID3V1 genre.

Just reporting this bug(-ish?) - Thanks! =)

Starting with version 0.5.6, FlacSquisher requires the build of LAME that's compiled against libsndfile. (this is also available from Rarewares) Since you downloaded LAME, I imagine you probably got the regular version, which doesn't allow FLAC files to be used as input.

The error you saw looks like this:
Unknown ID3v1 genre: 'Abcde'. Setting ID3v1 genre to 'Other'

This only affects the ID3v1 tag; the ID3v2 tag in this case would still be 'Abcde'.

Closing this, since I think the issue was the non-libsndfile build. Re-open if this didn't fix the issue.
