it'd be nice to use wildcards on the commandline ... it'd also be nice to have a command like flac -u which checks if flac file is encoded under the current version and if not decodes and reencodes and possibly reports changes ...

    wildcard expansion is a function of the shell though; only the windows shell neglects to handle them properly. see also http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=50667&st=75&p=466078&#entry466078

    the other option you described would be useful but I think doesn't belong in flac since it can be accomplished easily with an external script. flac already has too many options for my taste.
