When I type in "flac -8 *.wav" on Windows, I get an error.

Of course, I can run flac manually for each file, but that's a pain in the rear end.

On Mac, "flac -8 *.wav" works as expected.

the "*" is expanded by your shell. Not by flac. What shell are you using on Windows?

If you use 'bash', say, running under cygwin -- it will expand the *'s properly and pass them
    to the program.

The command line handling of the flac.exe program was extensively reworked for the 1.3.0 release. I'm pretty sure this is fixed.

Please re-open with details if it is still a problem.
