If you look in what macro-scope >it's defined, you'll notice 'mpexl'. It is proprietary stuff for an old HP >OS What's to explain? My inclination to strip out all the MPE/XL code as we find it - or better yet, pass the stripper program over the sources and kill most of them automatically. There's been discussion around this - apparently HP has threatened to commit suicide by reviving MPE/XL and, according to rumor, they have another, even worse operating system. My judgement is kill it. The MPE/XL port has not been maintained in a decade, it's a marginal market at best - we have mainstream markets to conquer. It's in the way and leads to confusion. Kill it. Part of the reason why gds.c is so huge is that it's service routines and has huge amounts of conditional code for different platforms. Cheers, Ann |
