Hi all. I have a DSN pointing to a remote (LAN) Firebird database. I´ve linked tables in Access. If I close Access and reopen the same database (ACCDB), I get an error when I try to open a table. Update 2: I also tried to connect with isql from another windows 10 machine which has firebird 2.5 installed thru VPN to the windows server. That worked. Update: I tested also the 64 Bit odbc client on the windows 10 machine. Same error. From: Dimitry Sibiryakov <sd...@ib...> (24. Juli 2018, 17:56) > With Firebird 3 local file path in connection string usually end up in > using embedded > mode which don't need running server. Thanks for that hint! As you have noticed I am totally greenhorn with Firebird. The windows service for Firebird is running. I can connect and query the database with isql and "CONNECT 127.0.0.1:f:\... \....FDB user ...FDB;" But still no test connection in the ODBC with database 127.0.0.1:f:\...\....FDB Is there yet another way to test the server? By the way, the Firebird server is version 2.5, 64 Bit. The ODBC client is the latest one in 32 Bit. Could that cause trouble? I even tried it with an alias. It is working fine in isql, even with "CONNECT 127.0.0.1:alias user...". But in ODBC it works just with database "alias" not with 127.0.0.1:alias. Thanks, Chris |

Hi, I cannot establish an ODBC connection over TCP/IP from Windows 10 to Windows Server 2016 over VPN. On the server the ODBC client works fine if I enter just the local file path for the database. So on the server this database name works fine: "F:\...\....FDB". However using the local loopback on the server I get an error "Unable to complete network request to host 'localhost'. Failed to establish connection": "localhost:F:\...\.....FDB". Same with: "127.0.0.1:F:\...\.....FDB" or "192.168.n.n:F:\...\.....FDB" from the Windows 10 machine. The windows firewall is on both machines deactivated. What could be wrong? Thanks, Chris |

Hi all, I am using PowerBi for visualizeing our firebird based database. Since the latest windowsupdate I get constantly errors. The microsoft support told me the error doesn't caused by PowerBi. Microsoft has discribed the error below: found this in the log: Microsoft.Mashu 779c-77d8 ENTER SQLGetInfoW HDBC 0x000001BB53CAA0C0 UWORD 173 <unknown> PTR [Unknown attribute 173] SWORD 4 SWORD * 0x000000BA1DDFCD2C Microsoft.Mashu 779c-77d8 EXIT SQLGetInfoW with return code -1 (SQL_ERROR) HDBC 0x000001BB53CAA0C0 UWORD 173 <unknown> PTR [Unknown attribute 173] SWORD 4 SWORD * 0x000000BA1DDFCD2C DIAG [HY096] [ODBC Firebird Driver]Information type out of range (0) The value 173 is for the constant SQL_CONVERT_GUID https://github.com/Microsoft/ODBC-Specification/blob/master/Windows/inc/sqlext.h The value SQL_CONVERT_GUID is expected with ODBC 3.x, but the driver does not know it. The Firebird driver have the version 02.00.0156 that is the latest one: http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/odbc-driver/ The Customer need to contact the developer of the driver to implement the value. I hope you can help me. Reguards, Matz |

Our problem is that we use ADO in our hole application. We have many places like this in our code: ADODB::_RecordsetPtr prs = NULL; CREATEINSTANCE(prs, ADODB::Recordset); prs->CursorLocation = ADODB::adUseClient; prs->Properties->Item["Update Resync"]->Value = (long)ADODB::adResyncAll; prs->Open(_bstr_t("SELECT * FROM TestTable WHERE 1=0"), (IDispatch *)m_pConnection, ADODB::adOpenKeyset, ADODB::adLockOptimistic, ADODB::adCmdText); prs->AddNew(); prs->Fields->Item["Name"]->Value = "Some Text"; prs->Update(); long id = (long)prs->Fields->Item["ID"]->Value; // throws an DB_E_DELETEDROW prs->Close(); prs = NULL; Is there a way to use INSERT RETURNING in ADO? Version: 3.0.3 32Bit ODB driver: 2.0.5 32 Bit I'm migrating a C++ App from MS-Access to Firebird 3.0. With MS-Access I used the identity column as primary key for table joining. Firebird gives the possibility to create a similar table with: CREATE TABLE TestTable (ID INTEGER GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY PRIMARY KEY, Name VARCHAR(50)); The whole app is written with ADO, so I'd like to use the firebird ODBC. But here occurs the following problem: reading the just generated identity throws an exception, I didn't have with MS-Access. ADODB::_RecordsetPtr prs = NULL; CREATEINSTANCE(prs, ADODB::Recordset); prs->CursorLocation = ADODB::adUseClient; prs->Properties->Item["Update Resync"]->Value = (long)ADODB::adResyncAll; prs->Open(_bstr_t("SELECT * FROM TestTable WHERE 1=0"), (IDispatch *)m_pConnection, ADODB::adOpenKeyset, ADODB::adLockOptimistic, ADODB::adCmdText); prs->AddNew(); prs->Fields->Item["Name"]->Value = "Some Text"; prs->Update(); long id = (long)prs->Fields->Item["ID"]->Value; // throws an DB_E_DELETEDROW prs->Close(); prs = NULL; I need to know the generated ID for further actions in other subtables. Has somebody the same issue and even better - a solution for this? Michael von Boetticher |

I have firebird 1.5 with Interbase installed about 10 years ago on at least 4 machines. The machines are IBM M58ps and they house the productions scans with millions of records. There are at least 4 IBM M58p machines that are working together and several (over 50) access databases that are linked to the one or more of the 4 M58p machines. My problems are as follows: One of the M58p has .gdb files that we cannot find the source that is writing to the files all day, every day. There is a fbserver.exe app and fbguard.exe app that is running non-stop. In the firebird folder on the c:\ drive resides the firebird log file and an .evn (not .env) file and a .lck file. In the IB folder on the c:\drive resides the .gdb files. All files and logs are updated everyday. My question is what do I need or how do I find out what is writing to these files. I've checked the IB Consoles setups and log files for the 4 computers and no luck. Thank you in advance. Sorry so long. ======================================================================== This message (including any attachments) contains information that may be confidential and/or privileged. I think the problem may be in ODBC Data Sources Administrator, But I don’t know how to reinstall the whole console.. Subject: Re: [Firebird-odbc-devel] ODBC connection problem Hello, This is different to my issues but I’d suggest that it is a version clash with a file somewhere. I’d start by uninstalling the ODBC and FB, checking that it has removed all folders and dlls that you can identify as FB related, then reinstall F, then OBDC and fingers crossed it works. I have downloaded firebird ODBC drivers and Firebird .dll’s from https://firebirdsql.org/en/odbc-driver/ My machine is x64, so I downloaded odbc x64. After I have installed the driver and copy/paste the .dll’s from OdbcFb_DLL_2.0.5.156_x64.zip into Windows/System32 Whenever I try to test the connection, ODBC administrator crashes. I have Administrator Rights, and I am using Windows Server 2016. I have tried with both, x32 and x64. If gds32.dll is not found then fbclient.dll is loaded by default too. Thanks Alexander! The use of gds32 is related to keeping support to interbase? (I would prefer fbclient.dll to be the default library, as I usually dont intall gds32 with my programs). I would also happy if the default value for quoted identifiers is "NO" (I.m not sure why someone will prefer quoted identififiers over non-quoted ones) Regards! 2017-10-14 9:18 GMT-03:00 Alexander Potapchenko < ale...@gm...>: > Jorge, > > You can see all default values in new DSN Windows dialog > Client will be gds32.dll, Driver is not used now. > > > On 13.10.2017 20:34, Jorge Andres Brugger wrote: > > I can write a connectoin string like "DRIVER=Firebird/InterBase(r) > driver;UID=SYSDBA;PWD=masterkey;DBNAME=server:database" and works. > But there are several configurable parameters, acording to odbc driver > docs: > > *Verbose keyword* *Short form* > Database Account *UID* or *USER* > Password *PWD* or *PASSWORD* > Role *ROLE* > Data Source Name *DSN* > Driver *DRIVER* > Database *DBNAME* or *DATABASE* > Client *CLIENT* > Character Set *CHARSET* or *CHARACTERSET* > Set read only *READONLY* > Set nowait *NOWAIT* > Dialect *DIALECT* > Set quoted identifier *QUOTED* > Set sensitive identifier *SENSITIVE* > Set auto quoted identifier *AUTOQUOTED* > File DSN *FILEDSN* > Save DSN *SAVEDSN* > It not defined explicitly, what are the default values for each attribute? > (I´m interested particularly in those which admit "Y/N" values. > Thanks! > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most > engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot > > > _______________________________________________ > Firebird-odbc-devel mailing lis...@li...https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/firebird-odbc-devel > > > > -- > Alexander Potapchenko > Team leader > LASP Technologies, http://www.lasptech.ru > > ------------------------------------------------------------ > ------------------ > Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most > engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot > _______________________________________________ > Firebird-odbc-devel mailing list > Fir...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/firebird-odbc-devel > > |

Jorge, You can see all default values in new DSN Windows dialog Client will be gds32.dll, Driver is not used now.
