"msvcp71.dll" is not bundled with Métamorphose, only "msvcr71.dll" in bundled. The application nags that I didn't have that dll and thus I couldn't run it.
The following (sourceforge.net) game "BZFlag v1.6.5" has the said Microsoft Visual C++ 2003 runtime dll files bundled.

That file is the same file that gets downloaded by "winetricks".
Which version of Métamorphose are you installing ?

I had the same problem.
To download the "msvcp71.dll" :

The dll file is now included in the windows installer package.
