here finally is my code for the fulltext indexing in Fez using MySQL =
(ZIP attachment, also uploaded in Campfire on 11/2 in case this does not =
make it through to the list). Please include it in the trunk.
We have about 5000 fulltext PDFs indexed and everything works very well. =
You can even use the MySQL fulltext query operators. Fulltext index =
tabledata in MySQL is about 250MB, which is quite acceptable. This can =
be reduced by refining ft operation with stopwording etc. I see this =
version as an intermediate solution until a better ft indexing method is =
There is one minor thing: on every record update (and on reindexing), =
all document attachments are reindexed. However, since most records are =
not updated very often, this should not be too tragic.
Also included is a Logger class I wrote as a wrapper around PEAR =
Logging. This proved very helpful in finding bugs. I think that the =
existing error handler class is not very well suited for this purpose. =
To use the Logger class, you have to include 3 lines in the config.php, =
and then you can use it statically, e.g. Logger::debug("hello fez"). All =
output is written to a log file in the "logs" directory. The log detail =
level can be adjusted in the config.inc.php. You could also include the =
logging configuration in the new config masks.
