Kai,

Catalyst in NZ (http://www.catalyst.net.nz/) have been developing Fez in parallel and have a git repository which they've made available to us.  I have setup a branch in our subversion for which I intended contributions ot be committed to Fez but it hasn't been used and I'm not sure if we will.  So far we have merged stuff in from emailed patches or just whole files emailed (using our own diff).

Christiaan is working on a completely different index engine that will probably end up in the fez svn sometime in the next month or so.

Hi Matt,

thank you for the answers. I'll try to integrate it in further documentation.

We are currently building a custom digital repository with Fez/Fedora, based on versions 1.4/2.2. On the technical side, we keep the UQ 1.4 line in our own subversion repository in a separate branch for periodical merges to our code base (we will definitely make quite some changes in the user interface where we'll have to see on how they could influence the original development). Bugfixes and documentation will be sent directly to the corresponding mailing lists or placed in the wiki.

We will definitely write an addition for updating the index, i.e. some record metadata is kept in our library system and should be mirrored to Fez (but all documents are in Fez). As soon as I have a more concrete idea for implementation I'll post it to the developers mailing list. However, you or other people on this list might have done it already or having ideas on how to do this or something similar best (if so, please contact me or write to the list).

Cheers, Kai

Betreff: Re: [Fez-users] Controlled Vocabularies: External ID

Kai,

I think it is the database row ID, not the subject code id that is stored in mods:subject ID="465584".  I think our code that does importing looks up the subject codes in the database and replaces it in the mods.

Hello Fez-Users,

I finally managed to create a new controlled vocabulary with a specific document type. It took some hours because nobody told me that the index data type for the subject/ID has to be an Integer… Otherwise browsing will not work – it does not find any records. Anybody who wants to add a CV, I can really recommend the video on the website AND (because the video does not tell the whole story) – to compare your XSD Matchings field by field with the ASRC example.

Anyway, another issue came up for which I don't have the nerves right now. But maybe there is somebody who can help me. We are importing MODS with given subject IDs (e.g. "8", "800", "201", …). I was hoping that the field "External ID (if applicable)" puts and reads this ID to/from the MODS. Instead, when looking at the MODS in Fedora Admin, the ID attribute of the subject does contain a number like "465584 (see example)", which is not the one entered in the CV Admin form.

<mods:subject ID="465584" authority="ethbib">

            <mods:topic>Informatik Computer Science</mods:topic>

 </mods:subject>

Again, for ASRC this mapping seems to work somehow… Using Fez 1.4 Rev 881, Fedora 2.2.

Have a nice weekend.

Cheers, Kai
