  • When I try to run fez setup I get this message:

    An Error Was Found
    

    Details: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8' at line 10

    Nothing seems to get writen to the log...

    Any Ideas on what I can do?

     
    • Arh I thought I had upgraded to mysql 5, but it looks like it am still on 4.

      root@sysconsultant:/var/www/fez # mysql -V
      mysql Ver 12.22 Distrib 4.0.24, for pc-linux-gnu (i486)

      I'll install 5 and give it another go. Thanks for you help.

      Hi James,

      What version of MySQL are you using? Some early versions of 4.1.x had problems with UTF8. 4.1.18 or so should be fine however the latest version of 5.0.x handles UTF8 even better.

      Also make sure the mysql user you are running the setup scripts with has rights to create databases from the host web server. This will be the likely problem if your MySQL version is not too old.
