    General Info :

    Fez 1.2/Fedora 2.1.1
    Linux 2.6.12-12mdksmp Kernel
Both Batch import patches (batchimport_mss1.patch and batchimport_mss1.patch)applied.

    Specific Info:

    From config.inc.php:

    @define("APP_SAN_IMPORT_DIR", "/usr/local/apache2/htdocs/fez/incoming");
(We also tried /fez/incoming outside the apache directory tree)

    here are two directories here:

    cd /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/fez/incoming

    ls -al

    total 16
    drwxr-xr-x 4 nobody root 4096 Aug 30 09:39 ./
    drwxr-xr-x 17 nobody root 4096 Sep 1 08:50 ../
    drwxr-xr-x 2 nobody root 4096 Aug 30 09:40 new_jpgs/
    drwxr-xr-x 2 nobody root 4096 Aug 30 12:47 new_pdfs/

Each directory has a single file:

    ls -al new_jpgs

    total 64
    drwxr-xr-x 2 nobody root 4096 Aug 30 09:40 ./
    drwxr-xr-x 4 nobody root 4096 Aug 30 09:39 ../
    -rw-r--r-- 1 nobody 504 53086 May 15 11:47 pic1.jpg

    ls -al new_pdfs/

    total 500
    drwxr-xr-x 2 nobody root 4096 Aug 30 12:47 ./
    drwxr-xr-x 4 nobody root 4096 Aug 30 09:39 ../
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 nobody root 496948 Aug 30 12:47 tutorial2.pdf*

henever we try a 'batch import' we get a responce that the job has started,
but nothing else. The only thing we see from 'my_fez.php' is the
    following...

    Running Processes

Started Name Progress Message Last Heartbeat Status
    2006-09-01 08:42:05 Batch Import undefined
Neither the image, or the pdf get imported into the collection. Any idea
what we could be doing wrong?

see if /tmp/fezbgp_n.log files are being created. I think the forked process is not starting.

Actually, the class.batchimport.php file is now broken for unix. Edit the line that has $command = "php.exe ..." to be $command = "/usr/bin/php ..." and it should work. We're trying to get 1.3 to a good point for release and it has this fix too.

          Sorry, that should be class.background_process.php
