Subject: [Exist-open] XQuery Update Facility 1.0 =20 Just curious as to how close eXist is to the impending W3C update = extensions?=20 =20 ....A ----------------------------------- The W3C XML Query WG published the following documents as Last Call WDs = early=20 last week: XQuery Update Facility 1.0 http://www.w3.org/TR/xquery-update-10/ XQuery Update Facility 1.0 Requirements http://www.w3.org/TR/xquery-update-10-requirements/ XQuery Update Facility 1.0 Use Cases http://www.w3.org/TR/xquery-update-10-use-cases/ The XQuery Update Facility abstract says: "This document defines an update facility that extends the XML = Query=20 language, XQuery. The XQuery Update Facility provides = expressions=20 that can be used to make persistent changes to instances of the=20 XQuery 1.0 and XPath 2.0 Data Model." =20 The XQuery Update Facility adds 4 new updating expressions to XQuery = 1.0;=20 insert, replace, rename, and delete. These expressions modify instances = of=20 the XQuery 1.0 and XPath 2.0 Data Model (XDM). The XQuery Update = Facility=20 also adds a non-updating expression, transform, which returns an XDM = instance=20 that has been created by copying existing XDM instances and then = modifying=20 them. The review period for these Last Call WDs ends on Oct. 31, 2007. The = status=20 section of each document specifies how you can provide comments to us.
