[Mark Volkmann] > Can eXist store multiple versions of the same document so you can > retrieve previous versions? [Pierrick Brihaye] Hasn't this question been answered... just a few hours ago ? Indeed it has, but perhaps the underlying identity of the posting Alex fielded, providing an answer to this one before it was asked, could be brought out by giving this question the answer: eXist can store anything you like, provided you tell it to. But no it won't handle versioning, unless you tell it what to do, and how. I.e. eXist is not a versioning system (though I believe some versioning systems use it as their repository) but if you care to write the code to handle incremental internal renaming, mapping of internal names to external ones and management (within an eXist collection if you like), of the necessary metadata layer, you can make it do this job for you. Some of its own document management metadata, which eXist exposes on demand, will help you do this. Michael Beddow |
