I'd be interested in helping too.  I have a existing user-base that 
uses LDAP for authentication in the user applications.

I'd be interested in trying to get some kind of "realm" configuration
like Tomcat's use of JNDI.  Then we can use LDAP or any other
technology that can make itself available through JNDI.
