searching the list archive, i found a message about using etherboot to boot vxWorks. I sent an email to Ken, who suggested sending an email to the list. The email i sent him follows.
What i need is a way to boot vxWorks using tftp + dhcp.
I already have etherboot working for linux and dos, so the problem relies on vxWorks.
I studied a bit the mknbi for dos and linux, but they seem quite different, so i don't know if it would be worthy makein an mknbi.vxworks.
Anyone has suggestions/tips about that? Would it be possible to make a mknbi for vxworks? Wouldn't be an easier way of accomplishing this?
Sorry, I'm no longer working on the Etherboot project. The best place
for you to ask is the etherboot-developers list. However if someone has
made VxWorks boot using PXE, perhaps the easiest would be to use the
PXE capability of Etherboot 5.4.x. Otherwise you would have to make a
bootable image from first principles based on what you need to put in
memory where to run VxWorks. I don't know how VxWorks wants to be
started so I'm no help there.
Good luck, Ken
