When eSpeak pronounces numbers like 15, it uses a direct phonetic transcription (i.e. how to pronounce the number) instead of processing it as words and using the pronunciations of those words. I don't know eSpeak well enough to know if this can be modified/fixed. > 2 Could ESpeak read 15 and 16 a bit more, clearly - 16 sounds similar > to 15, I especially get confused between two while dealing with lots > of numbers, could something be done in this regard? They sound correct to me and are pronounced correctly, ignoring the stress difference between the number variant and word variant. Do the word forms sound similar (fifteen, sixteen) or is it just the number forms? Can you identify the parts that are confusing (e.g. are fix and six confusing as well)? > 3 reading of very large numbers - ESpeak currently goes up till > hundred billion correctly, but when one more zero is added, shouldn't > it start with trillions, and then zillions or something? It depends on what number system is used for large numbers: 1. The short scale is used in the United States, and goes "million, billion, trillion, quadrillion, etc.". 2. The long scale as used in Europe goes "million, milliard, billion, billiard, trillion, trilliard, etc." 3. The long scale without the European -ard form (e.g. in Great Britain) goes "mililon, thousand million, billion, thousand billion, etc." Thanks, - Reece H.
