I am seeing some problems with proper timing out of EPP connections on
Linux. I have an EPPClient set up with an EPPTimeout of 10000 ms. The
registry is currently down so the connection should timeout after 10
seconds. On my Win2K machine this works fine. On a RedHat 6.1 machine
though the connection just hangs.
Looking at the source code for EPPClient I noticed that the
SSLSocketFactory's createSocket() method is called to create a socket and
then the setSoTimeout() method is called. Does the createSocket() method
actually establish the SSL connection and if so won't the SO timeout NOT be
set for the connection attempt?
Any other thoughts on this? Is there a way to have the SSL properly timeout
on its initial connection attempt?
