I had to try it out, so 0.16.8 now has a "no_button_grabs" window op. You can either set it via eesh, e.g. $ eesh wop <window name> no_button_grabs on or it can be be set via window matches in matches.cfg. This way all buttons bindings can be either enabled or disabled for particular windows.
