Howdy All, Just built all current E as of last night (the 26th) and now for some reason when alt-tabbing between applications when going from the last item on the list to the first one my system really bad. Anyone else getting this and is there any solution to it? Second - is there a shutdown/logout gadget already made for E I can compile from somewhere or is it something I need to write up myself? ~Jeff |

Yes, I am aware of this. Hmmm, I've played with things a bit this morning. It has to do with iceweasel. I have two gnome-terminal windows and an iceweasel window open. If I switch between the terminals with alt-tab, it's fast as usual. When I switch to the iceweasel window, enlightenment shoots up to about 50% CPU usage for about three seconds. During this time, the mouse is responsive to movement, but I cannot perform any window manager actions - minimize, roll-up, open a menu, etc. Window decorations do not get their usual animations. The issue appears independent of what webpage is loaded - it happens with 10 tabs of complex layouts as well as one tab of about:blank. I thought it might have to do with the unusually large window size of a web browser, but not so - larger terminals and openoffice don't trigger the issue. Not sure how to go about troubleshooting this. Any tips would be appreciated! Ross -- Ross Vandegrift ro...@ka... "If the fight gets hot, the songs get hotter. I just tried with e's composite module and things behave exactly the same way, but look rather fancy :) During the pause after selecting iceweasel via alt+tab, compositing effects are not drawn. When I start with a fresh ~/.e, e.cfg has "icon_theme" set to "Tango". No lag on switching to iceweasel. If I change the Icon Theme setting to anything else, the lag is triggered. Now, I originally didn't have Tango installed - so E must've been failing to find an icon theme. I installed the theme, and now I get lag on every single window switch with a default config. Choosing the "GNOME" icon theme removes the lag when switching to Gnome Terminal but it stays the same for switching to iceweasel. Attempting to switch the iceweasel icon via the "Edit Icon" menu doesn't appear to work. The same iceweasel icon is used no matter what I choose. Since I can't have no icon theme, for now, I'll just install Tango and roll with the default selection. Ross -- Ross Vandegrift ro...@ka... "If the fight gets hot, the songs get hotter. Another idea from outside of the world, efreet icon search could in some case trigger thousand of call to stat (specifically when it doesn't find icon in the current theme). That's why we implemented efreet icon cache (disable by defaultm turn it on with configure). I do see a lag without it in elementary_test for freedesktop icon. If that the issue, then we already have a fix ;-) -- Cedric BAIL in Kiwi country |
