I have entrance running on Mandrake, and I do not believe it to be=20 difficult to have the same method working on fedora. After setting DISPLAYMANAGER in /etc/sysconfig/desktop (I use the value=20 "e17" and hence the next example will use it as well - but replace it=20 with whatever you want), edit prefdm with the following: locate the lines that say prefered=3Dgdm, prefered=3Dxdm, etc' and add to=20 the bottom of the list: elif [ "$DISPLAYMANAGER" =3D "E17" -o "$DISPLAYMANAGER" =3D "e17" ] ; then preferred=3Dentranced thats it - you are now good to go: restart X ('service dm restart' on=20 Mandrake, maybe 'init 3; init 5' elsewhere. don't just zap it with=20 CTRL-ALT- BACKSPACE) and entrance should come up. =2D-=20 Oded ::.. Just found another problem. You have to call ruimop() after welke() otherwise $CVS_SRC doesn't have a value. Hi, I have some trouble with eterm and some textviewers: less, more and man (I think man uses less, but I am not sure). When I start to read a manpage - ie man foo - it works fine when i am scrolling down. But when I trie to scroll up it doesn't work at all. It looks like the first line is the only line that scrolls up, but still stay at the same position. So you just can read on line - thats realy annoying.=20 If i try to go to the top with "gg" i just get a clean (just the background) screen.=20 I've seen this behaviour on FreeBSD and Debian. On both systems I use the same config (see below). After the config I pasted my Eterm --version.=20 Would be nice if someon has an idea to solve this problem.... ok i'm still having problems with getting entrance to run normally, i can run it from the terminal and it works. lists out gnome, kde, default terminal, enlightenment etc.. but at a reboot, gdm still takes over. the location of entrance is weird [root@JimsNotebook ~]# locate entrance /var/cache/yum/Enlightenment/headers/entrance-0.9.0-1.20050224.i686.hdr [root@JimsNotebook ~]# whereis entrance entrance: /usr/bin/entrance /usr/share/entrance [root@JimsNotebook ~]# where do i edit so that entrance is called instead of gdm? Next question i'm not sure i have all the tools installed to edit eapp files. what do i need in order to edit such files. i want to edit the ibar launch commands so i can launch my own applications. thanks in advanced My system Fedora core 3 kernel 2.6.10-1.766 files installed from http://java.thn.htu.se/~toor/fedora/3/en/i686/RPMS.e17/ -- Jim Lawrence Registered Linux User: #376813 ******************************************************** When I'm feeling down, I like to whistle. I do not know it for DR17, but in DR16 you have to extract your user themes in ~/.enlightenment/themes/ (every theme in a seperate dir) and then you can change the theme with a middle-mouse click and select one theme from the Themes submenu (you maybe have to restart enlightenment after u installed a theme, to accomplish this u also do a middle-click and click on restart enlightenment or something like that). cya Christoph --=20 Christoph Peltz <fir...@we...> |

I can only guess, but maybe you insert /usr/bin/entrance (or where else is = entrance installed) in the file: /etc/X11/default-display-manager I have searched on thy fedora board but did not found anything, sry. cya Christoph --=20 Christoph Peltz <fir...@we...> |

Hi, I started using e17 recently and really like it. I compiled engage but when I run it it has a large black-ground. I have scoured the net for a fix and have found several references to using hsetroot and esetroot to fix it. Can someone please show me a detailed set on instructions as to exactly how to do it?
