Just Launched: You can now import projects and releases from Google Code onto SourceForge
We are excited to release new functionality to enable a 1-click import from Google Code onto the Allura platform on SourceForge. You can import tickets, wikis, source, releases, and more with a few simple steps. Read More
On 21 Oct, Hendryx scribbled:
-> I noticed that efm seems to have disappeared out of cvs during it's move
-> to sourceforge (if it is still there it's hiding *grins*) so I was therefore
-> thinking this might be a good time to ask the develeopers a few update
-> question regarding e17.
-> If I remeber from reading posts, the only think you intend to remove
-> from efm in the new e17 is the transparent menus. Is this still the
-> case, and are there any other things thath wont be making it into e17?
transparent menus will go yes. this is for perormance reasons.
transparent menus absolutely blow perfroamnce-wise.
otherwise features will remain mostly intact BUt the way they are
implimented will completely change. meta data will be stored
differently. the rendering / fs etc. subsystems will be different et al.
-> Two other
-> things that I remember being said was:
-> a) e17 will allow the user to specify areas of the screen/desktop that
-> windows should NEVER be placed over unless done so manually.
-> b) e17 will be configureable via drag 'n' drop in terms of it's themes,
-> meaning that you could drag 'n' drop diffrent themes settings to diffrent
-> windows etc.
yup... and a lot more.
-> Are both these still true are have these ideas changed, been
right now i'm nto even concerend with "ideas" - i'm way too busy wiht
just gettin the core subsystems all up and kicking so they work without
crashing or misbehaving. it si these building blocks we will ned for
e17 work... and we're still building the building blocks :)
-> Also what other nice new fetures do you have planned for e17?
errrrrrrrr all config will be db based. eveything will have a gui
config tool so no need to manually edit configs ever.
all renderign will be evas based - that means all text will be
anit-aliased truetype text, and if you have 3d accelerated opengl -
that means hardware accelerated rendering & compositing for evas.
-> Will the list of items that where never programmed into efm (located on
-> Mandrake's site) all be making it into the new e17 as well?
dunno. again - we get done what we get done. i'm too cncerned with
getting things to just work properly to worry about features.
-> Sorry for the mailing list interview guys but I havn't felt so excited
-> at a forth coming software realease since before win95. That one left me
-> very disapionted - something I know E17 will not!
heheheh - well you'll have to be patient - but i do expect it to turn a
few heads :)
