I installed Red Hat 8.0 cleanly and it has audigy
drivers. I can hear sounds in anything I do (ex: gaim,
sndconfig test,etc..) but when I try to play an mp3 in
XMMS it opens the Open audio dialog again, I click
play and it opens the Ope audio dialog again, etc.. So
I stopped those drivers and tryed the emu10k1
driver and it does the same thing. I stopped the
module for the redhat drivers with rmmod and then
loaded the emu10k1 and used lsmod to make sure
they where running. Any help?

    I hope you know that redhat no longer supports mp3s and you
    need a special rpm from xmms website to be able to play mp3s
    using xmms.
