When EMC starts up, the following error message displays: FATAL: Error inserting univstepmod (/lib/modules/2.6.10-adeos/extra/univstepmod.ko): Operation not permitted Can't install univstepmod Looking at Dmesg: (Everything fine with EMC startup) ....... Finished configuring emcmotStruct ppmc_encoder could not find an encoder module at IEEE-1284 address 0x 0 can't initialize motion hardware ........ (close everything and go away) I'm wondering if this might be an issue with the parallel port on this Dell notebook. This is a Latitude D800. Looking at the BIOS settings for the parallel port, the default is ECP. I also tried Bi-Directional, but same results. I can swap the parallel interface cable back to my RH9 EMC computer and all starts up correctly. Paul, you said this: "Be warned, even if the module does load, you are missing the ppmc iocontroller - Without it, I don't think it will come out of E-stop..It is in the next release, and a short test at the recent codeFest demonstrated it worked." Are you referring to the USC? Doug |
