OK, I updated CVS with the latest EMacro release.
Not sure if site-init.el (.emacs) is right, but likely so.
I found a way to link <url: http://emacro.sourceforge.net/ > to always
point to the latest emacs.html in CVS. I cleaned up emacs.html and added
to cvs. (not in tar ball)
This helps realize a convergence between the sad EMacro
home page, and its help page. Help->EMacro should be working
again. Note that sometimes the browser stays minimized, and
won't pop up, but emacro help does load.
To automate discovery of a database engine for EMacro to
connect to, I check for isql in the path.
If "microsoft" (case insensitive) appears in the path, such as
then I assume that it is MS Sql Server. Someone will have test
if this is the default, by executing
It may also turn out, that "microsoft" is more than 8 letters,
and this will never be true.
I repeat, checking for "sybase" in path name.
If neither is true, I prompt user.
Finally, I tried adding gnuservw.exe support for w32 xemacs.
I am unsure how to do this for w32 gnu emacs. Does gnuservw also
work for emacs? Is it called emacsserver.exe instead?
Vishy seems to think there is a problem with my ~/.backups code in
configure.el. I don't mention it in the docs; but you should
create a ~/.backups/ directory. Perhaps I should make it
~/emacs/backups, so I can create it automagically for users.
Frankly, I never seem to use this feature, and I don't think it
works so well. I probably should just rip it out.
I think this does create many annoying backup files in my HOME
directory, when I use XEmacs; I usually forget to create the
~/.backups directory, myself.
While having several *~ files can be annoying, they are still
more useful, than if all backups went into a single directory,
because I'd forget to look there.
Further, I'd not think to look in my co-worker's ~/.backups/
directory, and I might not have permissions to.
Unless I hear otherwise from the team, I expect to comment out
that code, as legacy and eventually rip it out.
