EHPMuseum
---------

EHPMuseum is an Open Source Plone based cultural heritage portal, that was
developed in the Eydehavnportal project, sponsored by ABM-Utvikling in Norway.

The Eydehavnportal project was done by Aust-Agder Kulturhistoriske Senter in
co-operation with Agder University College. Our main objective was to create
a technical framework for integrating data from various museum, archiving and
library systems in a cultural heritage portal. The Eydehavn portal will be
filled with content about the history of the industry town Eydehavn that was
built around the smelting works founded by Ragnvald Blakstad and Sam Eyde.
Sam Eyde was one of the largest industry founders in Norway in the beginning
of the 20th century. Sam Eyde founded compaines like Norsk Hydro, Eydehavn
smelting works and Nitriden.

EHPMuseum uses the CIDOC CRM XML model as a common transport
format between different culture heritage systems. XML data is stored
in PostgreSQL, and is accessed and indexed using adapted Plone products.

The datapump maps Norwegian data according to the field standard to the common
CIDOC transport format. Mappings are supported for the Museum and Archiving
systems ASTA and Primus, and Normarc based library systems. The datapump
interface has a general mapping interface that should be easy to adapt to
other museum, archiving or library systems as well.
