Ralf, All, Is there a way I can make categories "inactive" or "hide" them from the category list? We have had various attorneys that have left the office and their categories still exist in egw. I want to "hide" the categories or make them inactive so they no longer show in the category list. I though this would be better than just "deleting" the categories. Truth is I don't know what "deleting" the categories will do to the mysql table records. Would it just leave the records for past events "uncategorized?" I have looked and I find no way to make the global categories "inactive" or "hidden". Does such a feature exist? For historical reasons, it make sense to know who a contact or event was associated with, but since they categories will never be used again, I need a way to hide them. If no way exists to hide a global category, what is the best way to delete categories from the while making sure the mysql tables are not messed up? Add some "archive" or "obsolete" category name and transfer all records for the categories I want to delete to this "catch-all" category for retired categories? It may be worth looking into adding this feature if it doesn't already exist. Business grow and change and as they do, categories naturally become obsolete. Managing the category list is imperative for long term use. Just about every financial package I've ever seen come with the ability to make accounts and categories inactive. It would make egw that much more robust to build a bit of flexibility into category management. What say the experts on how to handle the current categories I have that are obsolete? -- David C.
