    See also

    http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87722

and the much older bug linked from there.

This has been a problem with the KDE system tray for ages.

AFAIK the KDE system tray basically assumes that tray items are
perfectly square icons, which is not the case for ed2k-gtk-gui.

    The tray should show:

    (v) 9.1 (^) 5.1

where (v) is the download icon, and (^) is the upload icon.

what he means is that when using the edonkey gui the system
tray icon causes each icon in the system tray to become VERY
    spaced out in between.

I know what he means - I did read the referenced bug reports on
    kde.org ;)

What I mean is: it's ultimately a bug in the kde systray
implementation, and there is little I can do about it (and at the same
time keeping the current functionality of the tray icon, that is).

    Cheers

Can't this be avoided with a option to suppress the
    'feature' that causes this problem?
This is the only tray program I have this issue with, so
regardless of KDEs issue, all other apps either know the
requirements to avoid the situation, or the limits of
    current functionality in that setting.
