This qualifies as a bug -- we should find a workaround for pretty big compiled files --. Would you mind reporting it to the Sourceforge tracking system?

Hi,

Trying to install "babel" <http://common-lisp.net/project/babel/> via Quicklisp, using ECL 11.1.1 on Windows 7 64-bit, yields the following error when compiling "jpn-table.lisp": "fatal error C1091: compiler limit: string exceeds 65535 bytes in length".

It seems that the string for "compiler_data_text" is too big for the CL MSVC compiler. Should this be considered an issue with ECL?
