After:

    I confirm that the first of the two behaviours occurs with latest ECL.

    This ticket seems overcome by events. Namely, with the latest Git HEAD (revision 898a57818bea33119b1f5c53457f88e79f680fd3) both forms do return (THIS-IS-ECL).
