Steps to reproduce:
Window->Preferences, Haskell->Helper executables->(any one)
<xxx> executable(<xxx>): (click the (lambda) button)
wait for the build procedure to finish. Suddenly an error message box shows (alex for example):
Expected executable /home/joe/System.Directory.getAppUserDataDirectory \"cabal\"/bin/alex not found!
(In fact, the file exists as /home/joe/.cabal/bin/alex)
The funny path name suggests it is a bug.
This is weird, as this as worked before without a problem. I suppose that it worked on windows but not on Unix (which OS are you using?). I used to have windows and it definitely worked, but recently I switched to Ubuntu and I can now reproduce the issue. I've pushed the patch to github.
I confirm, the code in 2.5.2 works fine on Windows but doesn't work on Unix. The patch I pushed works on Unix but not on Windows. The latest push today should work in both types of OSes.
