The freebXML Registry [OMAR] team is pleased to announce the release of version 3.0-final1 of our royalty-free open source implementation of the ebXML Registry standard [OVERVIEW]. This release culminates more than a year of work and incorporates experience gained from a diverse community of users of freebXML Registry [USAGE]. *Release Contents* Our latest release provides numerous new features and bug fixes. For a detailed list see [RELNOTES]. The new version provides a near, feature complete implementation of Registry Full conformance profile for the OASIS ebXML Registry 3.0 standard [ebRR]. The only missing feature is support for Single Sign On (SSO) based on the Registry SAML Profile. This implementation therefor currently only claims conformance to the Registry Lite profile for the OASIS ebXML Registry 3.0 standard. The freebXML Registry also provides a feature complete implementation of level 1 conformance profile of the Java API for XML Registries API [JAXR]. Also included are implementation of two profiles [PROF] of ebXML Registry: -ebXML Registry Profile for Web Services -ebXML Registry Profile for WSRP Remote Portlets *Latest Release Notes* See [RELNOTES] for details. *Downloading Software* Download instructions are available at: <http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Install#Download_Latest_Packaged_Release> *Documentation* The documentation for the release is available at: <http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/3.0> Additional information is available in the project's wiki at: <http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/wiki> A good place to start is the installation and setup guide: <http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/wiki/Install> *Reporting Bugs and Requests For Enhancements (RFEs)* See instructions at: <http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Install#How_To_Ask_for_Help> *Getting Support* Support and consulting services are available from several companies for our project. Dear freebXML Registry Community members, The freebXML Registry team (formerly ebxmlrr team) is pleased to announce the release of version 3.0-beta1 of our royalty-free open source implementation of the ebXML Registry standard. The new version provides a near, feature complete implementation of Registry Full conformance profile for the OASIS ebXML Registry 3.0 [4] standard. The only missing feature is support for Single Sign On (SSO) based on the Registry SAML Profile. This implementation therefor currently only claims conformance to the Registry Lite profile for the OASIS ebXML Registry 3.0 standard. The freebXML Registry also provides a feature complete implementation of level 1 conformance profile of the Java API for XML Registries (JAXR) API [7], as well as a new Web based thin client user interface to the registry and an administration tool command line interface (CLI). Also included are implementation of two profiles of ebXML Registry, the WEB Services (WS) Profile [11] and the WSRP Remote Portlets Profile [9]. The WS and WSRP Profiles are based on working drafts and are therefor experimental and subject to change in future release. The freebXML Registry project welcomes proposals for prototyping additional profiles of ebXML Registry. Please post proposal for new profiles to the ebxmlrr-tech mailing list. Latest Release Notes -------------------- The latest release notes are available in CVS tree at: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/ebxmlrr/omar/readme.txt?rev=1.12&view=markup They are also in the readme.txt file at the root level once you have downloaded the software. Downloading Software -------------------- Download instructions are available at: http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/3.0/SetupGuide.html#DownloadingTheRequiredFiles Release Documentation --------------------- The documentation for the release is available at: http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/3.0 A good place to start is the installation and setup guide: http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/3.0/SetupGuide.html Known Issues ------------ -Support for Single Sign On (SSO) based on the Registry SAML Profile is not yet implemented. -The distribution includes a build.properties file in root directory that should not have been included. You should either remove it manually and start with a fresh copy from build.properties.template or fix it to match your environment for the following properties: catalina.home localCall proxyHost proxyPort -start.tomcat and stop.tomcat targets will not work in Windows environment. Manually start/stop Tomcat using the startup and shutdown scripts provided with that distribution under <catalina.home>/bin directory. -target test.unit.deploy will fail unless you extract the ebxmlrr-spec module from cvs to a sibling directory of omar. Either don't use this target and ignore the content cataloging/validation test failures or get the module from cvs: cd path-to/omar-3.0-beta1-src cvs -z3 -d:pserver:ano...@cv...:/cvsroot/ebxmlrr co -P ebxmlrr-spec -JDK1.4.2 + JWSDP1.6 users: * uncomment build.lib.endorsed in build.properties. * remove xercesImpl.jar and xml-apis.jar from tomcat/common/endorsed. Copy there jars from ${jwsdp.home}/jaxp/lib and ${jwsdp.home}/jaxp/lib/endorsed. -JWSDP1.6 and Windows: Fix for wscompile.bat: the command line args are put in a variable one by one and shifted until there are no more of them. Unfortunately, when the features are passed to as one single argument (-features:wsi,explicitcontext,nodatabinding), command prompt interprets the comma as well as whitespace as an argument separator. This happens only when shifting through arguments. The solution is to not shift the arguments but pass them directly to ant. Scroll to the bottom of wscompile.bat and replace the argument collection with the following: rem Get command line arguments and save them set CMD_LINE_ARGS= :setArgs set CMD_LINE_ARGS=%* :doneSetArgs Reporting Bugs and Requests For Enhancements (RFEs) ---------------------------------------------------- -First see if your problem is already listed in the FAQ at: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=627327&group_id=37074&func=browse In particular read the FAQ entry: "How to ask questions effectively about freebXML Registry" http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1192046&group_id=37074&atid=627327 -All messages should be posted to ebxmlrr-tech alias after registering with the list: http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/ebxmlrr-tech -Make sure you indicate the release (3.0-beta1) -Include detailed steps to reproduce the problem -Include stack trace if any -If you have a bug fix patch please follow instructions at: http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/3.0/PatchSubmissionGuide.html Thank you for using the freebXML Registry. The ebxmlrr project [1] of freebxml.org [2] is pleased to announce a new production-ready release of its ebXML Registry: ebxmlrr 2.1-final1. An XML registry/repository is a critical piece of infrastructure for organizations to increase the efficiency of their business. The XML registry/repository is a versatile tool which helps to given employees, customers, and partners (internally and externally) scaleable, searchable, customizable, and secure role based access to critical information using standard protocols. The repository can store XML, web services, or any other type of data, and the registry manages the entire life cycle of information in the repository using sophisticated meta-data technology. This update of the ebxmlrr project, which is hosted at SourceForge and available under open source and royalty free licensing terms, implements all functionality required by version 2.1 of ebXML Registry specifications [3], as defined by the OASIS ebXML Registry Technical Committee [4]. It also implements most optional features of version 2.1 as well as several new features of the latest interim specifications for ebXML Registry version 3 [5]. The 2.1-final1 release includes the following new features: -Web Content Management capability -Role base access control using XACML access control policies -Locale sensitive Registry Browser -XML based fully configurable Registry Browser -Usability improvements in Registry Browser -Support for read-only mode when user is unauthenticated -Web browser integration -Performance optimizations, numerous bug fixes The complete release content for 2.1-final1 is available at: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/*checkout*/ebxmlrr/ebxmlrr/readme.txt?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/plain http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/*checkout*/ebxmlrr/jaxr/readme.txt?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/plain The client package of the ebxmlrr project includes a JAXR provider, enabling standard Java API access to the ebXML registry services. The release is available in source form from the following locations: ebxmlrr-client: Client package with JAXR provider [8] for ebXML Registry and Registry Browser http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=37074&release_id=183988 ebxmlrr-server: Server package with core ebXML Registry server http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=37074&release_id=184087 To Learn More: Several presentations on the ebxmlrr project [6] and the ebXML Registry specifications [7] are available for public viewing. Mailing lists on ebxmlrr and their archives may also be found at: http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=37074 We suggest that you subscribe to the low-traffic ebxmlrr-interest mailing list for announcements regarding ebxmlrr. I've followed the installation instructions through installing PostgreSQL, and up through 7.2 loading the sample data. I did have to stop and restart the postmaster to include the -i parameter before the build would start (this is not specificied in the install instructions, but only in an error message received from the build process.) I have an ebxmlrr/ebxmlrr user set up for the database and those user/pw's in both the ebxmlrr.properties and the build.properties files. Can someone help me get to the next step to get this installed? Thanks, Bill |

The ebxmlrr project [1] of freebxml.org [2] is pleased to announce our latest release 2.1beta3. The ebxmlrr project implements all functionality described by version 2.1 of ebXML Registry specifications [3]. It also implements several features of the latest interim specifications for ebXML Registry V3 [4]. The OASIS ebXML Registry specifications are defined by the OASIS ebXML Registry Technical Committee [5]. Several presentations [6] are available to provide a high level overview of ebXML Registry specifications. This is a bug fix release. HI Farukh , I was going through registry browser client . I found CBPC query in Adhoc query option . The CBPC uery option has search parameters like Pre Condition , Post Condition etc ...which is specific to CBPC . Slot is the option for providing option like that . Now suppose , there may be many other standard similar to HL7 or UNCEFACT etc . In that case , How will i provide adhoc query option specific to that ? Will it vary with each standard ? is there any dynamic way to add these options ? Regards Sanjeev Sinha |

FYI... If you wish to play with the Open Source ebXML Registry this tool would be a good place to start. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [Ebxmlrr-tech] New Registry Browser with major improvements Date: Fri, 08 Nov 2002 10:40:24 -0500 From: Farrukh Najmi <far...@su...> To: "ebx...@li..." <ebx...@li...> The ebxmlrr team is pleased to announce that we have a new version of our Registry Browser. This versions has significant improvements. If you are new to ebxmlrr (and not based of latest CVS bits), you can access the new Registry Browser via Java WebStart. This is one of the best ways to get familiar with the registry functionality since you need to install very little. Instructions are for Java WebStart based access are at: http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net/registryBrowserGuide/registryBrowserGuide.html The above instructions are a bit dated but will get you started. We will improve the docs for the upcoming beta release. Note that the first time you run the browser it will take long as it will install all the bits locally. Subsequent times it will be faster as it will use the local bits. If the server has any updated jars it will only incrementally download the updated jars. The new features of the browser include but are not limited to: -Support for publishing RegistryObjects and Repository Items to the registry -Save popup menu (using right click) item in RegistryObjects panel (right side of discovery panel) that are found as a result of as query -Save menu now working from Graph panel (accessible using Browse popup menu in RegistryObjects panel) -Support for editing RegistryObjects (this was the bulk of the improvements) -Popup menu on all Collection attributes (e.g. Classifications) to Edit, Insert or Remove an element in Collection -Updated all editors for RegistryObjects to better allow editing of those objects. Only one left are (Service, ServiceBinding, SpecificationLink) -Usability improvements -Now allows multiple selections in RegistryObjects panel and ability to perform actions (e.g. Save, Remove) on multiple objects at one time. -Added an Authenticate button in toolbar (third from left with Key icon). You can use this to setCredentials on the underlying JAXR connection. you can use this to switch identities. To Do ------- -Fit and finish issues -Show busy cursor in all time consuming operations -Bug fixes -ExternalLink not persisting on Organizations -ClassificationScheme sometimes disappears on Classification and ExternalIdentifier on RegistryObjects -Need Remove in graph panel to really remove from registry -Graph Panel does not allow saving multiple selected objects -Organization editing ending up with phones list duplicated. -Graph panel improvements in associating objects -Need to improve the User Registration wizard (right most icon in toolbar) and take the pain out of user registration -Need to fix User Registration wizard to allow import of Digital Certificate as first step Please share your feedback on the list. -- Regards, Farrukh ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: See the NEW Palm Tungsten T handheld. Harry, First I wanted to mention that we just created a new ebxmlrr-tech mailing list: http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=37074 for technical questions. The ebxmlrr-interest list is a low traffic list for outbound announcement regarding ebxmlrr. The problem you mention tells me you using JDK 1.4. The problem can be worked around by using JDK 1.3 or follow Edwin's instructions copied below: -----------------Begin Edwin's instructions for JDK 1.4 workaround-------------- Farrukh Najmi wrote: > > The issue is that > XML security jar uses some version of xalan that is newer than the one > in JDK 1.4. Basically, the implementation of xalan in JDK 1.4 needs to be replaced w/ the newer version. One way to do that is to create a special endorsed dir and place a copy of the new xalan.jar in it. Then, define a System prop called "java.endorsed.dirs" with the value of the new endorsed dir. See "endorsed classes override mechanism" via google for more info. (Or you can also look at the java web services developer pack from java.sun.com.) -Edwin "Wagner,Harry" wrote: > I am having a problem bootstrapping the database. Folks, We hope to have a beta developer download available for the ebxmlrr project within the month of May. This is slightly behind our previously stated schedule. In anticipation for a greater use of ebxmlrr by developers, we have a new mailing list that will serve as the developer mailing list for technical questions related to the ebXML registry server. This mailing list is: ebx...@li... All questions related to the server side module named ebxmlrr in the CVS tree should be directed to this mailing list. To subscribe to ebxmlrr-tech goto: http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/ebxmlrr-tech For questions related to the client side module named jaxr in the CVS tree, please use the mailing list: jax...@ya... This would include questions on the JAXR provider for ebXML as well as the Registry Browser client application. To subscribe to jaxr-discussion please go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jaxr-discussion Please add yourself to the appropriate mailing lists. -- Regards, Farrukh |

Hi rob, The ebxmlrr project aims to provide a reference implementation (RI) of the OASIS ebXML Registry V2.0 specifications. As for the openebxml I just heard about it from you. A look at their website shows that they are working on v1.0 of the ebxml registry specifications. The two are separate projects. I haven't come across a functioning implementation of the ebxml registry specifications.
