piece selection _is_ handled according to premove being activated or not.
You _are_ able of changing the selected piece. Say, if on the start
position you selected the king's pawn (with a simple click) and then
changed your mind, clicking on the queen's pawn will transfer the
selection to that pawn without moving.
You don't need to keep any old files, just make me understand what you
need. Has 0.1.10 in some way behaved oddly on you ? If yes, describe
exactly what happened.

One of the things I have in mind is have a scalable premove queue to
allowing queueing more than one move. May look odd, but... lightning is
meant to be fun, not to look like chess <g>

Just another in the long line of my ignorancies showing through.
Basically, I misunderstood something you had said in the 0.1.10 update letter. I thought you were removing the piece switching heuristics. When I tried testing it, I was attempting to swap the piece selection while it was still my opponents turn, and so all it did was deselect my current piece. All I was paying attention to was that it didn't then highlight the piece I wanted. If I have to swap on my turn, it works great.
The short version of all this mumbo-jumbo is that it's working fine. You just can't change pieces with a single click if it isn't your turn yet, premove or not. Not much of an issue really.
