I read on the ext3 wiki that it supports 32TB partitions. I am trying to create a nearly 7TB partition and mkfs fails every time, creating a nearly 1TB partition. fdisk shows the partion (sdb1) being the proper size (6985.9 GB) but when I format, the drive then shows as just under 1 TB in the filesystem. Any ideas? I am running RHEL4.2, but I updated e2fsprogs to 1.38 because I thought 1.35 might not support drives over 4TB in size (had same problem in 1.35).
I fixed this, it was a problem with fdisk and not ext3.
