I have had a similiar problem with the below controller in FC5. The only modificaiton for the compiles is support for the Marvell Gig Eth. On FC4 with the 2.6.11 kernel the driver works with some annoying messages, but no interrupt issues. Using the 2.6.16 image on FC4 I has issues with interrupts causing problems on this nic. I am not sure of the changes for the interrupt handlers between the versions at this point. But I did notice similiar problems on the 2 E1000 cards I have at home. But only on 2.6.16. If I roll the machines with the E1000 cards back to 2.6.8 or 2.4.32 ( both with the 7.0.33 driver ), no problems. One machine on Debian Sarge, the other on LFS. As far as I have experienced, the E1000 driver itself is not causing any issues on older kernels with FC4/5, Debian, or a custome build. 02:09.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8001 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 13) On 5/13/06, Paul Ionescu <i_p...@ya...> wrote: > Hello all, > > I have an IBM Thinkpad R50p with a 82540EP Gigabit Ethernet, and will all > the kernels from Fedora Core 5, I got "e1000: eth0: e1000_clean_tx_irq: D= etected Tx Unit Hang > " in dmesg when heavy traffic, and the connection drops for few seconds. > This manifests ONLY on heavy traffic. > The kernel is stock FC5 kernel, no modifications, no custom compiling. > I saw on the list that other people have also this problem, so this > is my report in the hope that it is helpful. > > P.S.
