I have a problem while generating a menu with spumux and later embedding
this menu in a dvd.
The menu buttons seem to get distorted in some strange way.
I've put an example with blank video files in my dropbox:

I tried looking at it with ogle which, while unbelievably flaky and not
dealing well with widescreen video at all, was the only thing that
seemed to make any sense of the menu without my actually burning a disc
and putting it in a player. It showed 3 menu items, that seemed to
For what it’s worth, I replaced your build_dvd.sh script with the
following, which uses FFmpeg instead of the more complicated MjpegTools:
rm -rf target && mkdir target
echo "Creating menu background from JPG..."
ffmpeg -i background.jpg -target pal-dvd -aspect 16:9 target/menu_bg.mpg
echo "Creating menu MPG from M2V..."
spumux -v 2 spumux.xml <target/menu_bg.mpg > target/menu.mpg
echo "Creating DVD structure..."
dvdauthor -o target/dvd -x dvdauthor.xml
echo "Creating ISO from DVD structure"
genisoimage -dvd-video -o target/dvd.iso target/dvd
