FWIW, there were changes made by CodeGear to the trunk a few days ago. I agree with creating a branch for DUnit2, and merging/adapting there changes to the trunk until DUnit2 can be released. --Juanca On Sun, Nov 22, 2009 at 8:12 AM, Paul Spain <pv...@gm...> wrote: > Thanks Mark. > > I've been thinking about how best to do the merge. Thanks Mark. I've been thinking about how best to do the merge. I think the least impact approach is to create a branch for the DUnit2 stuff, and merge that back to the trunk when its all reconciled. Knitting the documentation for both versions hasn't begun. As the next DUnit release will be the first in quite a while, it should be cohesive for any newcomers and those having another look. The trunk may be unusable for a while if the merging happens there. Anyone interesed in the DUnit2 code during the merge can always switch sandboxes to that branch. Any mods to DUnit1 inbetween times can continue in the trunk. Cheers, Paul. On Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 1:20 PM, Mark Edington <Mar...@em...> wrote: > Hi Paul, > > It's checked in. Thierry, I don't know if SourceForge's wiki is MediaWiki, and I know of no efforts to move the documents to it. Broken links may be my fault, as they may point to a server I reinstalled this year. If that's the case, with specifics, I could fix them. --Juanca On Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 9:05 AM, Thierry Bothorel < thi...@gm...> wrote: > Hi, > > I would like to know if documents from the old Sourceforge DocManager > have been migrated to the new system (MediaWiki I believe), and where. > Actually there are several broken links on the project page. > > Thierry B. > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > [...] |

Hi, I would like to know if documents from the old Sourceforge DocManager have been migrated to the new system (MediaWiki I believe), and where. Actually there are several broken links on the project page. Thierry B. |

Formidable! (I configured my email to get some practice in French). You can use https://dunit.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/dunit/tags/9.4.0 to get access to 9.4.0 - the latest released version. Currently Jud Cole is the project lead, but his very busy. The rest of us are contributors to the project. I think I still keep admin rights on SourceForge in case changes are needed. It seems that most of the work is been taken care of by the tiOPF people. I think that, at least for a cycle, they or Embarcadero should designate a lead that has authoritarian powers to move things around. --Juanca On Fri, Nov 6, 2009 at 7:52 AM, TRIDENT JOB <tri...@ho...> wrote: > Just a suggestion, > > could be great to have somewhere a list of members and roles for everyone > in DUnit/DUnit2 project. > >From an external view, it is difficult to understand who is doing what > today, and even more tomorrow ! > > TridenT > Delphi + JavaDoc = DelphiCodeToDoc > http://dephicodetodoc.sourceforge.net/ > > > ------------------------------ > Nouveau Windows 7 : Simplifiez votre PC ! Hi there, I have been working on consolidating Peter McNab's DUnit2 from a number of forks. I work with Peter Hinrichsen who posted earlier about the DUnit2 development for the tiOPF project. I also worked with Peter McNab for a number of years. I am happy to merge this code with DUnit as there has been a sudden and serendipitous burst of life here on DUnit. I have contributed code to this project in the past (a Delphi test-creation plugin before Borland include this feature in the IDE). So I assume I still have write access to the CVS repository. I think it would ease future development if we moved to Subversion as discussed in the earlier thread. However, I can see no way of creating a Subversion repository for DUnit with the project permissions I have - that looks like a job for an admin. From Googling, it seems to be possible to run CVS and Subversion simultaneously on Sourceforge projects in a transition period. In the meantime, I have created a temporary DUnit2 SF project to host the DUnit2 fork, starting with Peter McNab's last version of DUnit2: https://sourceforge.net/projects/dunit2/ Peter's code is a rewrite of DUnit, but the interface is largely compatible with the last release of DUnit - from memory it was only a few hours work to migrate the tiOPF test suite. |

That would resolve the merging/upgrade issues, let DUnit(2) be well integrated with the new Delphi, and give us time to reorganize. IOW, having a DUnit that works well with the upcoming Delphi should be top priority; everything else is well documented and well backed up, so it may wait until we get reorganized. Again, right now I don't need more than what's in the last published DUnit, so I'm not inclined to invest much effort on this step. The first group brought DUnit from non-existence to GUI testing within a GUI; it must be someone else's turn. -- Juanca |

Thanks Peter! MHO is that we need to designate a project lead that makes the most iportant decisions, which I think are currently hosting and merging. I can keep the Jira issue base up and backed up. I like the services that Google Code provides, but not their issue base. Since McNab's changes are so well tested, I see no reason to bring them in. It doesn't have to be a merge, we could just use the existing repository, or copy it with svnsync, and name it DUnit2 or whatever else. I too think that we should honor the effort McNab and others put into a next-generation DUnit. If tiOPF wants to take the leed, I volunteer to redirect what exists on the Web (SourceForge) to wherever it should be (I think I still have the passwords somewhere). Note: I'll keep stating my opinions, but it must be clear that I cannot become the lead right now. Note2: I do not own this project any more. I mean that in the sense that there has been kind of "asking for permission", when what we should be doing is designating a leader, and synchronizing with Embarcadero. --Juanca On Wed, Nov 4, 2009 at 7:18 PM, Peter Hinrichsen < pet...@te...> wrote: > > This mailing list has been inactive since Peter McNab passed last year. > > Prior to that it looked like his DUnit2 project was stable and mostly > > compatible with the current DUnit interfaces, and it appeared the plan > > was to merge it when he was happy with it. Hi everybody, Peter was using the tiOPF SVN repository on Sourceforge for his work, and also using the tiOPF three-hourly build to exercise his code. Peter's latest DUnit2 source, plus some extras from the team I work with can be found here: https://tiopf.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tiopf/3rdParty/DUnit/Trunk/src or here using the browser client: http://tiopf.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tiopf/3rdParty/DUnit/Trunk/src/ The build reports can be found here: http://opensoft.homeip.net/webnews/webnews.cgi?user=tiOPF;group=tiopf.dailybuilds (Two additional features have been added in the past month: a) Find - that searches the test tree for a test by name; and b) Click on a failed tests takes the user to the offending test in the Delphi IDE.) We have been wanting to contact somebody from the DUnit project to move the source to a better location for some time. From memory, DUnit on Sourceforge is in CVS, so our suggestion would be to place DUnit2 under SVN. In the mean time, let me know if anybody would like write access to the version in the tiOPF SVN archive. Regards, Peter. ps Peter McNab was a member of our local Delphi user group (ADUG) and in his memory, we are very keen to help move his code into the main DUnit project. |

All, Sorry for the silence, I am here and I am listening but have been buried in the usual flurry of activity and catch up after a major release (CodeHealer 2.6), and will reply more tomorrow. As Mark (Edington) said, I have been working with him on and off with the Embarcadero version(s) but have not had a chance to look at Peter's stuff in a long while, but we have a large suite that we can try it with. I'd say that's an even better reason to get Peter's work integrated sooner rather than later. The longer it goes the less likely it is to happen, and I think it would be a shame to lose those changes or introduce an unnecessary fork. The community is small enough that splitting it can't be a good idea. Craig |
